Kala Johnston- Owner 

Our Mission at Silverthorn Animal Clinic is to be sure that client and patient get the BEST quality care that we can provide. Silverthorn strives to make every visit a positive experience.

Dr. Gerald Johnson, DVM 

Dr.Johnson received his Veterinary Degree form the University of Florida in 1982. He is certified in Veterinary Acupuncture by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society. He is a member of  The American Veterinary Medical Association, Florida Veterinary Medical Association, International Veterinary Acupuncture Society, American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture, American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association and American Veterinary Chiropractic Association.  He combines his love for pets and their people with his experience in conventional and alternative medicine at his practice. 

Charan F, Office Manager   

Charan started her career over 12 years ago in the Veterinary field. Charan was born and raised in Sarasota,FL and has slowly made her way up to Land o Lakes with her husband. Charan has her certification in Surgical Nursing, Nutrition, Wound Care and Emergency Care to name a few. She is a member of the CAPC Organization and American Heartworm Society. Charan went and studied Veterinary Technology at Penn Foster, she currently has 2 dogs and 4 cats. Tiger, a 8 year old Puggle. Rhett, a 3 year old King Charles. King George is, as his name says, The King of the household! George is an 11 year old domestic long hair feline, Maggie and Oliver are her other 2 cats that she rescued when they were kittens and Colin is the newest addition to the home. In her spare time she spends time with her family and friends. 

Crystal G- Holistic Veterinary Nurse  

Crystal was born and raised in St.Petersburg,FL. She graduated High School(Go Panthers!) and went on to have a 5 year career in Corrections. After serving so many years she had a change of heart and started a new career in the Veterinary field in 2010.  Since she started working at Silverthorn Animal she feels that she has found a home and family. Everyday brings her joy knowing that she has helped a pet. Crystal's favorite part is Skin! In January she went to a conference to learn more about Skin conditions and diagnostic procedures. When she is not working she is taking care of her cutie pies,Phil the Bunny, larger than life goldfish, Parakeets, 3 dogs and 3 cats. 

   Tasha B - Reproduction Specialist 

Tasha started her career in 1986 breeding American Quarter Horses. She has taken courses at the University of Florida, and to become certified in Equine Reproduction. Tasha has opened her farm in Brooksville to all stallions, hosting several seminars on her farm on proper frozen semen and cooled semen. Tasha continued studying Equine reproduction under Karen Berk.  In 1992 she found another love of breeding smooth collies, as well as showing.  In 2010, Tasha earned Collie Club of America Smooth Collie Breeder of the Year.  Always striving to learn the newest and most successful canine breeding techniques she takes certification courses at Camelot Farms, University of Minnesota and many more reputable short courses. She is a member with AAEVT,FVTA and NAVTA  

Cassy S,CVT - Lead Veterinary Nurse 

Cassy went to school for Veterinary Technology in South Carolina. She moved to Florida in 2012 to help out her family, not to mention the weather is Fantastic! It is fulfilling for Cassy to do what she truly loves, education clients and caring for our clients' pets. Cassy is also a "Mom" of 5 pets, 2 of which are dogs. Russell is a border collie that is 7 years old and laid back. Russell's best friend is Benji; he was rescued. Benji is a Shih Tzu and he is only 1.5 years old!  Cassy's 3 cats' names are Penny,Pepper and Jezebel. They were found outside at a young age, but now living in a lap of luxury, however they are on a Prescription diet and have Lost some weight! In her spare time she loves cooking and spending time with her pets.

Angela D. aka "Ang" Lead Client Care Specialist


 Angela is originally from Long Island,NY,she made a pit stop in New Jersey and eventually moved to Florida in 2013; Immediately after graduating high school she worked on Wall Street at a brokerage firm for 10 years. She changed careers and decided to work with the 4 legged animals that she always shared a love for. She previously taught obedience classes and helped people find their fur ever companion. Angela has worked in all areas of an animal hospital, including veterinary emergency. Her love for people and animals has kept her at the front lines where she loves to be with the owners. Angela has 2 children and a stepson. In her spare time, she shares her life with her husband John. Jerzee, a Labrador, who hates water!! Baker, a DSH, loves the water!! How weird is that?!

Rabeka B-Veterinary Nurse

Rabeka started her career in the veterinary field 9 years ago. She was born and raised in Orlando, FL. She then made her way to Hudson, FL in 2005 to finish high school and graduated in 2009. She also graduated from Marchman Technical Education Center in 2009 where she got her Certification in Veterinary Assistance and now is Currently in her second semester in the Veterinary Technology Program at Penn Foster. She has one dog named Dixie who is a Shetland Sheepdog. Rabeka has always had a passion for helping and caring for animals and continues her passion and love for the animals at Silverthorn Animal Clinic. Rabeka has been with Silverthorn Animal Clinic for 1 year and looks forward to many more. 

   Lisa M - Veterinary Assistant


Lisa has been fostering and relocating abandoned animals(wildlife included) for many years,she started working at Silverthorn Animal to further her education in the industry. She has her AA and started on her prerequisites toward a degree in zoology. Lisa has been supporting herself for the past 8 years as a Professional Photographer; she has recently created a full spread calender of her pets! Lisa has many interests,one being nutrition for animals and will soon be learning more about it. Our clients have been known to call her the Resident Cat Lady of Silverthorn Animal Clinic.

   Bonnie H- Reproduction Nurse Displaying Bonnie.jpg
Bonnie has been involved with Labradors most of her life, working with them in obedience, hunting, conformation and breeding since 1988. Bonnie's puppies can be found across the country an in Canada. They have aspired to greatness with Specialty placement, Champions, Therapy dogs, Search & Rescue and much more. Most notable are her 1995 #4 ranked Labrador/#1 ranked chocolate Labrador in Canada and her bitch's daughter was one of the Search and Rescue dogs in NYC after 9/11. Her first chilled semen breeding was in 1994 resulting in 10 puppies, repeating that in 1995, again resulting in 10 puppies! Throughout this time she has learned the importance of testing,timing and the need to keep up with the many tools available to help have a successful breeding program!

Chelsea R - Veterinary Nurse

Chelsea is from Pennsylvania originally, and has always loved Florida since she was little. She has a great passion for the veterinary field. She has volunteered for a few local shelters doing anything and everything needed, mostly cleaning,transporting and shadowing technicians; which is where the interest sparked between 2008-2010. She decided to move to Orlando,Florida  in 2011, she obtain her veterinary assistant diploma at Florida Institute of Animal Arts. Chelsea's personal life led her back to Pennsylvania in 2012, it landed her a job as a veterinary technician, where she gained her knowledge in dentistry, emergency medicine, client education and so much more. She plans to continue her education online to obtain an AS degree in veterinary technology so she can receive licensed. She's always known to have a smile on her face, and when she isn't working, she is enjoying the beaches, outdoor activities especially kayaking with her husband and fur baby Brandy. 

Tammy - Veterinary Nurse 

 Addison- Veterinary Assistant

Addison graduated Central High School in 2014. He is currently enrolled at the University of South Florida where he majors in Animal Biology. Addison started at Silverthorn Animal as a volunteer and was eventually hired as an employee. He plans to go to Veterinary School and graduate with full honors. Addison is hoping to open his own Veterinary Research Facility. He has a Great Dane named Jenny.
